The goal of the Junior Foundation Camp is to teach the skills and provide experiences that contribute to a foundation of healthy boyhood. We teach the boys to be physically capable and willing to serve themselves, their families, and their communities. We teach these skills through the three pillars of Iliad Athletics: fitness, nature, and character. Each boy will experience being a small unit leader at some point during the camp and will get constructive staff feedback in an after action review. The boys will experience:
strenuous (but fun!) exercise;
group competitions;
the responsibility of being in a leadership role;
land navigation lessons and exercises;
fire building lessons and exercises;
basic field first aid;
knife safety lessons and practical application;
knots and lashing techniques;
wrestling fundamentals and games;
guided character discussions;
meal prep and cleanup;
and singing and stories around the camp fire.
The boys will be treated with respect at all times and will be given real responsibility and autonomy to formulate and execute plans, while under the watchful eye of Iliad staff.
